Actor Rajinikanth took time off from his busy schedule on Saturday to meet and offer a word of praise for social worker P Manimaran, who was recognised with a certificate by the Unique World Records, for conducting dignified burials of 1,008 unclaimed bodies and serving leprosy patients.
Hailing from Tiruvannamalai district, Manimaran said Rajinikanth came to know about the services he had rendered and hence had invited him to his Poes Garden residence in Chennai and greeted him. ‘My meeting with him lasted for about 25 minutes. Rajini sir was extremely happy about the work I have been doing and he was highly appreciative of how I have been working with leprosy patients from such a young age,’ Manimaran said after receiving the actor’s blessings.
“He also appreciated me on having given dignified burials to 1,008 unclaimed bodies for the last 17 years from 2002 to 2019 and the recognition I received from the Unique World Records,’ he added. Manimaran also said that Rajinikanth encouraged him to continue with his noble service of treating leprosy patients and said more youngsters should come forward to render such service.
Manimaran said he showed the actor a photo album highlighting his 17 years of service and the certificate of recognition issued by the Unique World Records.
Last week, Manimaran, who also bagged a State government award for his services, met Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit at Raj Bhavan and sought his blessings.
