The 49-year-old man from Thailand came to Tamil Nadu on a trip with six others last week. After visiting several places of religious importance in Chennai, the tourists visited Erode by car two days ago.

As he developed fever and cold, others decided to send him to Thailand and accompanied him to Coimbatore international airport to board a flight to Chennai to proceed further to his homeland on Saturday.

However, the medical team at the airport examined and found him showing symptoms of Corona virus. He wasn’t allowed to take the flight and was taken to CMCH, where he was kept under isolation. He is a severe diabetic.

Similarly, a 35-year-old woman, who returned from Qatar, is suspected of showing symptoms for Covid-19. Samples collected from both the persons have been sent to Kings Institute in Chennai for testing. Only the results will reveal if they were suffering from infection.

Meanwhile, the public health department has been monitoring a total of 247 persons including 50 foreign nationals in Coimbatore. They have been asked to remain in home quarantine and not visit crowded places or mingle with others for 14 days.

Following a spate in incident of Corona affected persons in Kerala, the interstate bus services and trains between Kerala and Coimbatore runs mostly empty. The health department has deployed medical teams in interstate borders to disinfect all vehicles entering the district as a precautionary measure.
