No new driving, learner’s licences till March 31
As part of preventive measures against COVID-19, the Transport department has suspended issuance of new driving licence and learner’s licence till March 31.

Announcing the decision, Transport Minister MR Vijayabhaskar said that only expired driving licences would be considered for renewal. A decision to this effect was taken at a review meeting on Tuesday.
The Transport Corporations were also directed to ensure disinfectants were sprayed at terminals every day, and that drivers wear masks while on duty.
“Buses from neighbouring states are cleaned at our bus terminals, and we have requested those governments to sanitise our buses to control spread of the virus,” the Minister said.
“All the 21 transport check posts in the State have been directed to monitor vehicles from Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka and clean them using disinfectant,” the Minister added.
The supply of blankets in air-conditioned buses have also been temporarilywithdrawn.
