Raju: 21 more Amma medical shops planned across state
The State Minister for Cooperation Sellur K Raju, on Thursday, announced that 21 more Amma medical shops would be setup across the state.

“To supply quality medicines at a lower cost 116 Amma medical shops are functioning across the state. To expand the service, 21 more Amma medical shops would be setup across the state at the cost of Rs 1.88 crore”, said Sellur Raju.
Amma medicals were setup in 2014 and since its setup medicines to the value of Rs 360.4 crore were sold, till February 29 this year. Generic medicines which have the similar quality and curing effect of branded medicines are being sold with lesser price.
To expand the service across the state, four Amma medicals each would be setup in Tiruvallur and Sivaganga divisions, three each in Kancheepuram, Kanniyakumari, Cuddalore and Pudukottai divisions and one in Villupuram division.
