PC appeals for complete lockdown like California
Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram has advised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to emulate US state of California and enforce total curfew in the state. Chidambaram also advised the states to boldly lockdown all towns and cities so that the Centre would develop courage to emulate.

Appreciating the AIADMK regime for shutting the inter-state borders, Chidambaram, in a series of messages posted on his official Twitter handle since Saturday morning, said, “I compliment Tamil Nadu for closing its borders. @EPSTamilNadu should be bold and announce a lockdown immediately.”
Also lauding his ally Maharashtra Chief Minister @Uddhavthackeray for getting close to a lockdown, the former Union Home Minister said, “This is not the time for a step by step approach. Be bold and lockdown all towns and cities.”
The Congress senior who has been persuading the Centre to announce complete shutdown for a few days now, said the Centre may find courage to act decisively once Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra announce lockdowns, apparently taking a dig at the ruling BJP led Centre for delaying a nationwide lockdown.
Advising TN govt to not wait till tomorrow, Chidambaram said, “Like the American state of California and Bavaria in Germany, Tamil Nadu government should also announce complete lockdown. Closing state borders will not be enough. Complete lockdown should be announced and enforced,” tagging @EPSTamilNadu to the message.
Remarking that curfew was ‘inevitable’, Chidambaram suggested, “Whatever you intend to do tomorrow could be done today. People of Tamil Nadu are aware of the global affairs. They are intelligent people. They will appreciate the efforts of the government.”
Sparing a thought to also criticize the Centre’s Corona preparedness, the Congress troubleshooter said, “@Narendramodi’s video conference with CMs does not seem to have thrown up a coherent plan. Time to learn from the world,” referring to the Californian and Bavarianlockdown.
