7 TN docs test +ve, 2 more patients die
Even as a total of 58 new positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in Tamil Nadu on Saturday, two of the new cases were doctors from Chennai.

With this, the total number of doctors testing positive in TN has reached seven while the total number of cases in the State is 969. Deaths of two patients were recorded in Erode and Chennai respectively taking the toll to 10.
Of the two doctors, one is a 44-year-old who works at CSI Rainy Hospital in Old Washermenpet, while the other is a 27-year-old who works at Government Periphery Hospital in Periyar Nagar, Perambur. The contacts of both the doctors, including hospital staff, have been traced and tested.
A 70-year-old male patient admitted to Erode government hospital died on Saturday after complaining of breathlessness. IndiGo on Saturday said one of its staff in his mid 50s passed away due to coronavirus in Chennai. A source said the employee was an aircraft maintenance engineer. “We are extremely sorry and saddened by the demise of one of our beloved employees in Chennai due to COVID,” an airline spokesperson said on Saturday. This is possibly the first case of death of an aviation personnel due to coronavirus in the country.
Of the new 58 cases, 54 are from contacts of a single clusters source, while four have interstate travel history. Meanwhile, TN Chief Secretary K Shanmugam said TN has applied for the approval of three more testing labs.
