Inaugurating the mobile vegetable outlet, Corporation Commissioner S Sivasubramanian said, despite the strict checking by the police to ensure social distancing, the people across the Corporation limit are seen moving around to purchase the essential commodities on a daily basis. Though the shops are restricted with time limit, the residents, sometimes, seem to fail to adhere to the norms. So, we have come out with an idea of mobile vegetable shops in each ward.

Thus, we established as many as 65 mobile vegetable shops which would sell the vegetables at the doorsteps,” the Commissioner said.

He also said that the vegetables are sold on a nominal price and a team of civic body staff are asked to maintain these shops. Accordingly, each ward would have a pushcart of vegetables with price list. Residents can either choose the vegetables on their own or, they can purchase, the bag of vegetables sold at Rs 150 each bag containing assorted vegetables, he said.

The Commissioner, who inaugurated the mobile vegetable outlets, asked the staff to ensure wearing the safety gears while moving to the residential areas.
