56 more test positive in TN, 103 discharged in single day

A total number of 56 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu on Friday, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 1,323. Of these, 15 persons belong to the single cluster source while the other 41 persons who tested positive are contacts of the COVID-19 patients.

No new death cases were reported in the State in past 24 hours, while about 103 patients were discharged on Friday alone. The total number of patients discharged so far in the State has risen to 283. About 30 patients were discharged from Omandurar Government General Multispeciality Hospital after getting cured on Friday.

Thanjavur district recorded a maximum of 17 cases in a single on Friday, while Chennai recorded 11 cases. The total number of cases in the city is 228 so far. Currently, 34 asymptomatic passengers from highly affected countries are being quarantined in quarantine facilities near airport and 1,891 are under hospital isolation.

Officials from the State Health department say that the testing of samples has been increased and in-conclusive results are being tested again. As on Friday, 28,673 lab test samples have been tested in the State, of which 4,699 samples are repeat samples. As many as 2,023 samples are still under process across the State.
