Perambalur cop tests +ve, 26 others isolated

As many as 26 police personnel from the station were home quarantined on Saturday, after a top cop in Perambalur district had tested positive for COVID-19 and was sent to Tiruchy Government Hospital for treatment.

It is said, a 45-year-old head cop, a writer from V-Kalathur police station in Perambalur was involved in patrolling after the Section 144 was implemented from March 25. It is also said that the policeman used to frequently visit the SP office. Since he had the symptoms of COVID 19, he went to the Perambalur GH on Friday and tested positive for the virus on Saturday.

The shocked Perambalur police rushed him to the Tiruchy Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital where he has been undergoing treatment at the isolation ward.

Meanwhile, the information about the head cop testing positive for COVID-19 went viral across Perambalur district and the police officials asked all the 26 cops belonging to the V-Kalathur police station to home quarantine themselves.

In the meantime, the police are on the process of conducting inquiries about the places he had contacted during the time. While the police from the SP office are also being asked to contact the health officials if they feel the symptoms of COVID-19.
