The recommendations that emerge from review meet would be submitted to the government so as to take an immediate decision, said official sources.

Though total shutdown to mitigate the spread of coronavirus was declared till May 3, the State government is considering allowing specific sectors to work, but with reduced manpower, after April 20 under certain conditions.

A senior official from the Directorate of School Education told DT Next that several important works, including conducting Class 10 board exams, evaluation of Class 12 board exam answer sheets, work related to new admission in government and aided schools, re-starting the tender process for procuring cycles, footwear, notebooks, etc. for students and printing of textbooks were stopped due to total shutdown.

All district education officials have been asked to submit feedback about the current situation of the pandemic in their regions so that a decision could be taken on completing all the pending works, he said.

"After getting the reports from all DEOs, authorities will discuss the date of rescheduling according to the requirements," he added.

There is also a plan to operate selected government and aided schools with a minimum non-teaching staff to carry out admission related works after April 20, the official said. "Feedback have been sought from the school managements and teachers," he said.

A report would be prepared after reviewing all the feedbacks and suggestions, which would be submitted to the government for further action.

All government and private schools in the State would remain closed till May 3, he said, adding: "The decision to re-open schools will be taken only by the State government."
