The Chief Minister chaired a review meeting on COVID-19 in Salem district on Friday. In this regard, DMK MLA Rajendran and Member of Parliament SR Parthiban filed a complaint with the city police alleging that the Chief Minister has convened the meeting with a large gathering of officials in violation of the lockdown norms. They also questioned the need for a travel to his hometown in Salem despite travel curbs.
Countering this, Mohan, an AIADMK functionary and former ward committee zonal chairman, gave a complaint with the police and district administration officials on Sunday alleging that the DMK has been acting with political motives belittling the efforts of the State government and officers towards curbing the spread of COVID-19.
The Chief Minister is bestowed with special powers to hold inspections and meetings. Despite knowing this, the DMK legislator and the Member of Parliament had given a false complaint to prevent officers from discharging their duty. In this regard, the AIADMK has sought action against the DMK leaders.
