TN to send tokens home to stop crowding at ration stores

The government said this would enable maintenance of social distancing and to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

In an attempt to reduce crowding at ration shops, Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday announced that tokens would be delivered at ration card holder's homes specifying the date and time at which the essentials will be supplied free of cost for the month of May.

In a statement issued here, the government said on April 24 and 25, tokens specifying the date and time at which rice, lentil, sugar and oil will be supplied at the ration shops will be delivered to the homes of ration card holders.

The government said this would enable maintenance of social distancing and to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
