Unregistered barbers to get Rs 2,000 each

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday announced Rs 2,000 as special relief for barbers who are not members of the welfare board. The State had earlier disbursed Rs 2,000 each for 14,667 registered barbers.

Unregistered hair designers can submit their applications to civic and revenue officials, who will forward them to the district collectors for necessary action, , the CM said in a statement.

The statement also said that the government had released cash relief for workers in unorganised sectors. As part of the corona relief works, the State had so far released cash relief for auto drivers, barbers and workers in unorganised sectors.

The State also announced the distribution of transparent masks for hearing and speech impaired persons, their parents, trainers, teachers and others so that they can communicate reading lips while wearing the special masks.

The hearing and speech impaired persons communicate by reading the lips of others. The regular mask will hinder the communication, but the special transparent masks will serve the impaired.

The State has planned to distribute about 94,000 masks, sources said. The masks will be distributed through welfare organisations and the State is taking all efforts to address the issues related to corona outbreak.
