Class 10 exam centres increased to 12,690 to ensure social distancing

The state has increased the number of Class 10 board exam centers from 3,825 to 12,690 as only 10 students will be allowed to take the test in each center in a bid to maintain social distancing. Facemasks will also be distributed to the students and teachers during the examination.

Over 2.5 lakh teachers and non-teaching staff, including officials will be deployed during Class 10 exams, which will be conducted from June 15 to June 25.

A government release on Thursday said that facilities will also be made for downloading the hall tickets online apart from the schools. However, the government has made it clear that the hall tickets will be delivered at home to the students living in containment areas.

Stating that all sanitisation works will be done, the communique said that about 46.37 lakh facemasks will be distributed to the teachers, students and officials during the exams.

In case the exam centres were located in the containment area, alternative places will be established in the safer regions. In addition, special centres will also be set up for the students, who live inside the containment areas.

The release said that same initiatives will be taken for Class 11 and Class 12 pending exams to be held on June 16 and 18 respectively.

After setting up a dedicated helpline, the government said that transportation facilities will be arranged for students by issuing e-passes.

All precautionary measures will be taken during evaluation for Class 10, 11 and 12 answer sheets, the release added.
