Shooting of serials allowed with restrictions

Following demands from the Tamil film fraternity, the State government on Thursday granted permission for shoot of Tamil TV serials, but with restrictions. “Indoor shooting can be carried out in sets or in houses but not in containment zones. Outdoor shooting is allowed only in rural areas outside containment zones,” the order stated.

Recently, members from FEFSI and other organisations affiliated with the movie industry met Minister for Information and Publicity Kadambur C Raju and urged him to grant permission for post-production work of Tamil movies and shooting of Tamil TV serials. Permission for post-production work was granted earlier.

However, the government has laid down several restrictions. Some of them state crew members should periodically clean their hands using sanitisers and none with COVID symptoms should be allowed to enter the sets of serials.

“The concerned person should be sent for medical examination and only after test results are negative should the person be allowed into the sets,” the order read. The vehicles used for shooting should be sanitised before and after use. Camera and other technical equipment should be cleaned with sanitisers, the release said.

CONDITIONS APPLY
  • Public should  not be allowed to view shooting and the spot should be sanitised before & after completion of shooting
  • Artistes and technicians should follow social distancing and wear masks, which shouldn’t be removed even during breaks 
  • Crew members should periodically clean their hands using sanitisers and none with COVID symptoms should be allowed to enter the sets 
  • Permission of Chennai Corporation Commissioner or Collectors should be obtained before commencing shooting
  • Not more than 20 people, including actors, will be allowed in the shooting spot
