Police suspect them to be part of a larger organized network targeting widowers and destitute women under the pretext of offering jobs in a beauty parlour run by a couple, Loganathan (35) and Rupa (30), in their house on Seerangan Street in Dadagapatti.

“The couple tried to lure three young women, who joined work recently, into flesh trade. When they refused, the couple locked the three in the house and took nude videos on phone,” police said. Acting on a complaint from the three women, Salem Town All Women’s Police Station (AWPS) personnel arrested Loganathan and his two friends Pradeep (30) and Siva (36) who were part of the network.

More shock was in store for police as they found nude videos and photos of several women in their phones. Police are in the process of tracing their whereabouts to get complaints from these victims.

Meanwhile, one of the three accused had tested positive for COVID-19. He has been quarantined at Salem GH, while the other two were sent to jail.
