HC judges to start hearing cases from court hall through video conference from tomorrow

Starting from June 1, all 33 benches at the principal seat of the Madras High Court are set to begin hearing cases from their court halls but only through video conferencing.

A note issued to the judges by the registry said, “From June 1 onwards, the staggered functioning of the court sittings of all 33 benches will be from the respective court halls through video conferencing only. Hence, judges are requested to bring their laptop/iPad to the court.”

MHC, Registrar, Judicial, M Jothiraman in another notification regards mode of filing and hearing of cases in the Principal Seat, said advocates/parties are required to send petitions/applications/grounds of appeal along with the requisite documents as mandated, through email to the designated email IDs’ from 10 am to 1.30 pm on all working days. The emails received after time specified shall not be entertained.

It also pointed out that case related information such as filing of case, posting of case, status of the order passed etc., shall be obtained telephonically through the following telephone numbers from 10.30 am to 5 pm on all working days.

For Appellate Side cases – Filing - 2530 1195, Appellate Side cases – Posting - 2530 1266, Writ Jurisdiction cases – Filing - 2530 1191, Writ Jurisdiction cases – Posting - 2530 1301, Criminal Side cases – Filing and Posting - 2530 1252, for Queries relating to status - 2530 1124 of orders passed (other than Original Side cases) and for Original Side cases – Filing, Posting and queries - 2530 1208 Relating to status of orders passed.
