In Tirupur district, as many as 22 members of Hindu Makkal Katchi were arrested for staging a protest demanding to boycott Chinese products.

Speaking to reporters, the outfit’s president Arjun Sampath urged the BJP-led Union government to snap all trade relations with China, which has been dumping inferior quality of products into the country.

“From crackers to cell phones, China has been manufacturing duplicate ones and their imports are weakening the Indian economy. Now, they have been invading areas in our area of control in violation triggering unnecessary tension. Also, the entire world is gripped in fear of COVID-19 that began to spread from China,” he said.

The protestors tried to burn photos of Chinese products like mobile phones and that of communist party flag.

In Tiruchy, the outfit members who gathered near the Gandhi market brought the Chinese products, including mobile phones, air conditioners and computer spares and raised slogans against China and dropped them on the road. They also broke them by beating the products with wooden logs.

They urged the people not to purchase the Chinese products anymore to express their opposition against the country. They also warned the shopkeepers not to sell the Chinese products. If anyone found selling the product, the outfit members would stop them from doing business, they claimed.
