COVID-19: Tamil Nadu has conducted over 5.5 lakh tests so far, says Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami

Edappadi Palaniswami revealed that, up to 5.5 lakh COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Tamil Nadu so far till June 4. The CM is expected to address the state by 6 pm today.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has revealed that, up to 5.5 lakh COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Tamil Nadu so far till June 4, to identify and curb down the spread of Coronavirus. He revealed that Tamil Nadu is conducting higher number of tests compared to other states in the country, with up to 13,000 tests per day in about 72 testing centers.

Edappadi advised people of Tamil Nadu to cooperate to stop the spread of Coronavirus in the state. He has stated that it is nearly impossible to fight the virus without responsible activities from people.

The Chief Minister said that the daily life of people have been affected due to Coronavirus for the past two months, and suggested everyone to avoid stepping out of their houses unless absolutely necessary.

Edappadi stated that Tamil Nadu so far has one of the lowest death rate in India, due to Covid-19. He added, TN also stands high in number of recovered patients in the country. The CM said, face masks and social distancing are mandatory to stay away from the virus attack. 

The Chief Minister will address the people of Tamil Nadu at 6 pm today.
