The teaser of the series had triggered a controversy and a case was registered by the Cybercrime Cell, Central Crime Branch, Chennai, against its director Babu Yogeshwaran and producer Elango Raghupathy.

Apprehending arrest, they moved the anticipatory bail application before the court. Their counsel contended that the web series did not target any particular religion, faith, community or practice, but was only about the anti-social activities of the self-styled persons who mislead the public. The petitioners submitted that a false case had been foisted against them. “There is no provocation to the Hindu faith people, to cause any ill-feeling or promote enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion,” the petitioners said, adding that the media group that was to air the series had agreed to remove any scenes if found objectionable.

Countering this, City Public Prosecutor said teaser contained denigrating remarks against the Brahmin Community, which would hurt feelings and disturb communal harmony.

“Based on a complaint, a notice under section 41A of CrPC was served to the petitioners and while so, without appearing before the investigating agency, they moved this court for anticipatory bail,” the CPP said.

Recording the submissions, Principal Judge (In-charge) MN Senthilkumar said, “They are ordered to be released on bail in the event of arrest or on their appearance and execute a personal bond of Rs 10,000 each with two sureties each for a like-sum.” They were also directed to appear before the investigating agency as and when required for interrogation.
