COVID: DMK to hold multi-party meet on Monday

The DMK on Friday announced that it would convene an all-party meeting on Monday to discuss about the alleged failure of the AIADMK government to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the state.

A party headquarters release said that the video conference meeting will be chaired by DMK president and Leader of the Opposition MK Stalin.

DMK sources said that representatives of ally’s parties such as Congress, MDMK, VCK, CPI, CPM and IUML were expected to attend the meeting, which will be held at 10 30 am.

Accordingly, the meeting is expected to discuss about the handling of coronavirus pandemic by both the state and the Centre.

A senior DMK party functionary also said that the meeting will pass several resolutions, including asking the state to come out with a clarity on the measures taken to prevent the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. “The meeting would also urge the cadre to take utmost care while doing relief measures for the affected people due to total lockdown, he added.

The meeting is also expected to review DMK’s Ondrinaivom Vaa (Let’s come together) campaign as a part of COVID-19 rehabilitation initiatives for the affected Stalin has already alleged Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami of tampering with number of deaths due to COVID-19. The meeting will also seek the government to be transparent in handling the pandemic.
