In her complaint, the Joint Director said that the doctor in question had made a disparaging remark that post-mortem reports could be fabricated in the Erode Government Hospital.
“A fabricated post-mortem report can be obtained from the GH for Rs 5 lakh,” the doctor says in the audio clip, which has gone viral in social media.
The doctor, who made the controversial statement, was engaged in a casual conversation with another person over the death of a young woman admitted for labour in a private hospital.
Expressing shock and disbelief over the death of this healthy young woman, the orthopedician is heard calling the incident a medical negligence. As their recorded conversation went viral in the social media, the doctor, in a subsequent development, is heard profusely apologising to an official for making a false remark regarding fabricated post-mortem reports given by GH on a payment in another recorded conversation.
A copy of the complaint has also been sent to Erode Collector and Indian Medical Association. Gomathi sought action against the doctor.
