Chengalpet: 271 new COVID cases reported in 24 hours

The total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 in Chengalpet has risen to 218. About 8,224 have been recovered after undergoing treatment, while the active cases in the district soared to 2,866.

Chengalpet has reported 271 fresh Coronavirus cases on Saturday. This has taken the total tally to 11,579 in the district.

The total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 in Chengalpet has risen to 218. About 8,224 have been recovered after undergoing treatment, while the active cases in the district soared to 2,866.

Tamil Nadu has been detecting at least 6k (6,785) new COVID cases for the past 2 days, with Chennai city reporting a minimum of 1000 new infections. Thiruvallur and Chengalpet are recording maximum number of cases in the state after Chennai. The total tally of the state stands at 1,99,749, including the number of recovered patients.

According to the bulletin released by the State Health Department, a total of 65,160 samples were tested in the past 24 hours and 6,504 patients were discharged, taking the total recoveries to 1,43,297. Tamil Nadu currently has 53,132 active cases.

About 82 patients succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll to 3,320. The recovery rate is reported to rise inspite of a surge in infection, which is a ray of light in this pandemic situation.
