Police, health personnel among affected as Virudhunagar sees new high

Virudhunagar district saw a new high of 645 positive cases on Saturday, crossing by a huge margin, the previous day count of 424.

With this, the total number of positive cases in the district neared 6,000 (5,999). Its death toll stands at 43.

Since last night, the district had recorded 216 fresh cases up until Saturday morning. With the sudden surge of 429 cases in between, the cases had increased to 645 by evening.

The affected included 14 police personnel, 7 health care workers and 14 infants.

About 2,947 have recovered after undergoing treatment, while the active cases in the district stands at 3,009.
