DMK colours in poster embarrass new AIADMK district secretary

It was embarrassing start for D Velazhaganm, the newly appointed Vellore AIADMK rural district secretary, as the poster he printed to thank the top brass for giving a party post was done using DMK colours, which went viral on social media.

The poster, purportedly put up by Velazhagan to thank the party high command and local Ministers KC Veeramani and Nilofer Kafeel for their support made the rounds on social media drawing a huge laugh from members of the DMK, which Velazhagan was hard put to explain.

The poster had the names of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Ministers Veeramani and Nilofer Kafeel and party MPs KP Munusamy and R Vaithilingam as also Velazhagan and former CM J Jayalalithaa’s names all printed in red and black, the party colours of the DMK. A notable difference was Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam whose name alone was printed in the AIADMK colours of red, white and black.

Velazhagan and urban district secretary SRK Appu accompanied by Minister Veeramani were on their way to Chennai to meet the party top brass when Velazhagan was appraised of this issue.

When asked, Velazhagan said, “how will I do something stupid like this? It must be the work of somebody inimical to my interests.” Echoing him Appu said “Velazhagan will not do something like this and that too as soon as he is nominated to the new post.”

As the advertisement did not appear in any vernacular daily, suspicion pointed to party hands in Anaicut panchayat union whereas PU secretary, Velazhagan had rubbed many on the wrong side resulting in some even leaving the AIADMK for the AMMK. That has obviously not been forgotten. When last heard, media personnel and party men were trying to find out the source from which the poster appeared on social media.
