Autopsy report to HC confirms four injuries on Tenkasi farmer’s body
The interim post mortem report of deceased farmer Anaikarai Muthu of Tenkasi district, submitted before the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Wednesday, revealed that the victim suffered four injuries on his body. The farmer’s kin alleged that he had died due to custodial torture by Forest personnel.

As per the directive issued by Justice R Pongiappan of the Madurai Bench on Tuesday, the state government counsel submitted a status report of the case, post mortem report and video tape in a sealed cover on Wednesday. After hearing the submission, the Justice adjourned the case to Thursday for further orders.
The petitioner Palammal (60), wife of the victim, sought an interim direction to direct respondents to conduct re-postmortem through a team of forensic medicine professionals from different medical colleges headed by the Professor of Forensic Medicine from the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital under full video coverage within a stipulated time. The petitioner also demanded CB-CID probe and to alter the Section to 302 (murder) of IPC for necessary action and also sought adequate compensation.
Earlier, Anaikarai Muthu, farmer from Vagaikulam, Tenkasi district, was charged with putting electric fencing illegally surrounding his farm land, which’s just adjacent to his house and the Forest personnel attached to Kadayam Range conducted enquiries with the farmer on July 22. The petitioner further said her son Natarajan along with two others, while proceeding to the Forest office, was shocked at seeing his father Muthu in an unconscious stage in the Forest Department jeep, which took him to Kadayam GH, subsequently he was taken to Tenkasi Government Hospital, where he was declared brought dead on July 23.
