DC-Intel among 23 Tamil Nadu cops chosen for Prez Medal

As many as 23 police officers from Tamil Nadu, including R Thirunavukkarasu, Deputy Commissioner (intelligence section), were selected for the President’s Medal for their distinguished service on the occasion of Independence Day.

A release from the government said two officers – R Antony Johnson Jeyapaul, Commandant, TSP II Battalion, Avadi; and P Ravichandran, Commandant, TSP battalion VII, Pochampalli – would be awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

Besides them, 21 officers were selected for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service. They are M Sathiya Priya, DIG (training); ES Uma, DC, Crime, Coimbatore City; R Thirunavukkarasu, DC (IS -I), Chennai; V Visweswarayya, AC, Neelankarai; K Yuvaraj, AC, Social Justice and Human Rights, Chennai; E Mcclarine Eskhol, DSP, DVAC, Tirunelveli; S Ravichandran, DSP, CB-CID, Chennai; S Charles Sam Rajadurai, AC, IS; M Sathyaseelan, DSP, DVAC, Madurai; S Manoharan, DSP, DVAC, Thanjavur; ESJ. Melwyn Rajasingh, DSP, DVAC, Cuddalore; K Sasikumar, inspector, STF, Erode; A Irudayam, inspector, Coastal Security Group, Chennai; A Immanuel Gnanasekar, inspector, SB-CID, Chennai; N Elangovan, inspector, Pallavaram; P Sundararajan, inspector, DVAC, Dindigul; T Kandasamy, inspector, DVAC, CSU 1, Chennai; A Ambrose Jayaraja, inspector, DVAC, Madurai; B Balakrishnan, SI, Security Branch CID, Chennai; S Viswanathan, SSI, DVAC, Salem; and P Prahalathan, SSI, DVAC, SIC, Chennai.

Meanwhile, 15 police officials, including an ADGP, were selected for the Chief Minister’s medal for selfless service and also excellence in crime investigation. Five would be honoured for excellence in public service while the remaining would be awarded for excellence in investigation and service.

S Davidson Devasirvatham ADGP (Technical Services); K Shankar, IG (CB-CID); S Saravanan, DC (L&O), Tirunelveli City; S Deepa Ganiger, SP, Salem; and P Jagannath, head constable, job racket team, CCB, were selected for medal for excellence in public service.

G Nagajothi, DC (CCB), Chennai; R Kumaresan, DSP, Q-Branch CID; T Saravanan, AC (North), Salem City; SK Durai Pandian, DSP, Katpadi; E Elangovan Jennings, inspector, Organised Crime Unit, CB-CID, Trichy City; PS Chitra, inspector, Crime Record Bureau, Trichy City; K Neeladevi, inspector, Crime Record Bureau, Sivaganga; S Patchaiammal, inspector, Arakkonam Railway Police Station; P Ulaga Rani, inspector, CB-CID, Tirunelveli; and P Vijayalakshmi, inspector, Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement Cell, Tirunelveli, were chosen for CM’s medal for excellence in Investigation.

The awardees will receive a grant of Rs 25,000 and an eight-gram gold coin.
