The Bench headed by Justice AP Sahi, Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy ruled out any kind of legal constraints in government acquiring land for Coimbatore airport expansion.

For the uninitiated, Coimbatore international airport's expansion was greenlighted by Central government at the cost of Rs 5,000 crores.

Clamour against acquiring land by government in 2017, had been raised for the allegedly lack of proper discussion with the parties concerned.

Madras High Court had earlier stopped land acquirement against which the Tamil Nadu government moved.

When this case came to the hearing on Tuesday, the bench had lifted all the barriers and gave a go ahead to this project.

The Tamil Nadu government had furnished the details of the agreement that was signed upon for a sum mutually agreed, and the state also said that funds for acquiring the land has been allocated.
