The storage in the dam has begun to rise again, days after witnessing a dip with the combined discharge for canal and delta irrigation surpassing the inflow.

The inflow into the dam rose to 34,366 cusecs on Thursday morning from 7,079 cusecs on Wednesday. This considerable increase in inflow has also led to a rise in the storage level to 99.100 feet on Thursday 8am from 97.940 feet on Wednesday morning.

The storage level in the dam has been remaining just short of 100 feet as against its full reservoir level of 120 feet over the last one week. The water realized at Biligundulu, the entry point of river Cauvery from Karnataka also remained at a steady 41,000 cusecs on Thursday morning.

As such, the discharge from Mettur dam is at 17,000 cusecs for both delta and canal irrigation. Water was released from East and West canals of Mettur dam on this Monday and on the customary date of June 12 for delta irrigation.
