Egg-laden lorry overturns near Ambur, driver lets villagers take intact pieces
A Vellore-bound mini lorry loaded with eggs capsized near Ambur early on Thursday. Local villagers, who rushed to the lorry driver’s rescue, got a bonanza as he let them to take the undamaged eggs.

The mini lorry was driven by Janakiraman from Namakkal to Vellore. He dozed off while crossing Vinnamangalam near Ambur on the Chennai - Bengaluru National Highway. As a result, the vehicle veered off the road and fell into a ditch. In the resultant jolt, nearly 21,000 eggs got damaged, but the driver Janakiraman escaped with few scratches. Local residents on noticing the accident rushed to the rescue of the occupants. On finding the driver safe they started disbursing. Touched by their swift response, the driver let the villagers to take away the undamaged eggs from the lot. Villagers were seen taking away the eggs in bags and utensils. Ambur taluk police investigated the accident.
