An aged couple Ramasamy (75) and Anjana (70) were living along with their son Balakrishnan (40), a lorry driver at Kalaramapatti near Perambalur. On Monday afternoon, Ramasamy died after prolonged illness due to age factors and it was said that earlier Ramasamy had reportedly told his son Balakrishnan and his wife that once he died, the body should be buried near the house.

As per his father’s wish, Balakrishnan tried to bury the body in their land adjacent to his house and started digging the ground for the same. However, on seeing this, neighbours opposed the move and so, Balakrishnan decided to intern the body in the house itself. He then dug a pit in the house and buried the body in a sitting position around 1 am on Tuesday.

Learning of the burial in their house, on Tuesday morning, neighbours informed Perambalur police about it. Police officers, who came to the house demanded Balakrishnan to remove the body. But, Balakrishnan kept arguing with the police.

Subsequently, Tahsildar Bharathivalavan, who went to the house, told Balakrishnan that the body was buried carelessly and asked him to remove the body immediately.

Then the officials unearthed the body and cremated it at the village crematorium on Tuesday afternoon.
