The Supreme Court has decreed Kausalya's father Chinnasami to respond to her petition in the Udumalpet Shankar dishonour killing case.

Petitions from Tamil Nadu government, filed by slain Shankar's brother Vigneshwaran and Kausalya came to the hearing on Monday.

This could earn Kausalya her dividends for the prolonged legal battle against her family.

She moved the Supreme Court as her father was released with his death sentence commuted and five of the ten others accused had their quantum of punishment reduced to life imprisonment on June 22 this year.

Kausalya then said she wouldn't rest till justice is served to her late husband.

This infamous case dates back to 2016 when Kausalya, eloped with her paramour Shankar who is a Dalit, and they both got married.

Kausalya's caste Hindu family was enraged by this and they murdered Shankar in a brutal way.
