Like other leaders from various political parties who arrived to pay homage to the body that was kept at the Elanthakuzhi village, Udayanidhi reached the spot.

However, the PMK cadre, who gathered there, prevented his entry claiming that the DMK did not issue any statement on Vignesh’s death. On seeing this, the DMK cadre who accompanied Udayanidhi argued with the members which triggered tension for a while in the area.Suddenly, a section of PMK cadre along with the family members of Vignesh lifted the body from the house and proceeded to the crematorium by another way to avoid Udayanidhi to pay homage. Subsequently, the body was cremated and Udayanidhi was waiting there for a while.Later, he met Viswanathan, father of Vignesh at his house and handed over a solatium of Rs 5 lakh to him and consoled his family members. While speaking to reporters after the incident, Udayanidhi Stalin said that the DMK has been continuously giving a voice against NEET examination that has been preventing the students from Tamil Nadu to pursue medical education. “The youth wing and the student wing of DMK have been staging a State-wide protest against compulsory NEET. We continue to urge the State and the Centre to cancel the NEET exam for medical seats so that the dreams of the students from the rural areas would be fulfilled,” he said.Meanwhile, to prevent any untoward incidents, a heavy posse of police was deputed at Elanthakuzhu village and IG (Central Zone) H M Jayaram, DIG (Tiruchy Range) Z Annie Vijaya, SP R Srinivasan and others monitored the situation.
