Covid-19 patients count slides down in Tamil Nadu, active cases below 47k, over 60 lakh samples tested
Tamil Nadu on Tuesday reported 5,697 persons testing positive for the coronavirus while 68 (40 from Government and 28 from Private hospitals) died due to the pandemic.

A total of 5,735 Covid-19 recovered patients were discharged from various hospitals on Tuesday. According to the state health ministry, as many as 4.5 lakh (4,58,900) persons have recovered from COVID-19.
There are over 5 lakh (5,14,208) COVID positive cases throughout the state. The current recovery rate of the state has improved to 89.2 per cent.
Only 46,806 persons are under treatment in the state.
Tamil Nadu recorded 68 new deaths from the COVID-19 epidemic on Tuesday against 53 the day before. As per data, 8,502 persons had died due to the virus in the state.
Meanwhile, Chennai is reporting less than 1,000 new cases consistently for nearly a week. The city registered 989 new cases and 12 deaths on Tuesday. The active cases in the city stands at 9,883 following the discharge of 1,530 patients.
Coimbatore continued to report higher number of cases with 485 people testing positive on Tuesday. Chengalpattu saw 324 cases on a single day while Salem, Cuddalore, Tirupur and Thiruvallur reported over 250 cases.
Tamil Nadu has tested 60,48,832 samples and 58,58,300 people so far, according to the media bulletin issued by the Directorate of Public Health.
