BJP leader Radhakrishnan tests positive
Senior BJP leader and former Member of Parliament CP Radhakrishnan tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

“Today morning COVID-19 test report has come back positive with mild symptoms. Just got admitted to a hospital,” Radhakrishnan said in a social media post on Wednesday. The BJP leader, who had been admitted in a private hospital in Coimbatore, expressed hope of recovering soon from the infection. Meanwhile, Coimbatore recorded its highest single-day surge of 549 coronavirus cases on Wednesday, taking the total tally to 23,702 cases. The district has the second highest number of active cases in Tamil Nadu after Chennai. There are 3,437 active cases while 19,900 people have recovered so far. Also, with four more deaths being notified on Wednesday, the death toll in the district rose to 365.
