Cop, AIADMK functionary booked in murder case

Even before the dust over the sensational custodial deaths of a father-son duo could settle down at Sathankulam in Southern district of Thoothukudi, a case has been registered against an Inspector of Police on Friday in connection with abduction and murder of a 28-year-old man, allegedly in connivance with an AIADMK functionary and his associates.

Police sources said, based on a complaint from S Elizabeth, mother of the deceased S.Selvan (30), the Thisaiyanvilai police have registered a case against Harikrishnan, Inspector of Thattarmadam police station, Thoothukudi, South district secretary of AIADMK’s commerce wing M Thirumanavel and a few others. When Selvan, a resident of Chokkankudiyiruppu under Thattarmadam police limits was returning home on his two-wheeler on Thursday afternoon, a speeding car knocked him down. The occupants of the car abducted Selvan. The body of Selvan was found lying in a nearby forest area. The family of Selvan accused the Police Inspector of being the mastermind behind the murder.
