Much to agony, the forty-year old victim identified as Hepsi was found sitting on a chair with her hands and legs tied to it and her mouth gagged with cloth.
A video content of the woman undergoing torture and the police personnel rescuing her went viral on social media on Saturday.
According to sources, she was married to a 53-year-old Suresh Rajan of Naduvil for nearly fifteen years now.
However, disputes were growing between them at frequent intervals as the couple was childless.
After Hepsi got employed in a court as Junior Assistant in Eraniel, Rajan became even more suspicious.
As suspicion grew Rajan one day locked her up and assaulted her with a machete.
She was also doused kerosene on her body and attempted to set her ablaze.
Some neighbours after having heard her cries of pain banged on the door and subsequently alerted the police, who smashed the door to find Rajan shirtless inside the house with the machete.
The police then rescued Hepsi and arrested Rajan under five Sections of IPC including woman harassment and murder attempt, sources revealed.
