“Poultry farms do not accumulate waste as they are in high demand to be used as manure by farmers. They are taken off by middlemen to be sold to farmers. About 40 grams of dry manure comes from each bird and there are about three crore birds in hundreds of farms in the district,” said A Singaraj, president, All India Poultry Products Exporters Association. The issue of improper disposal of waste water also doesn’t arise as not even a single drop is wasted, moreover, these places do not administer antibiotics and only probiotics are used, which do not cause harm when consumed, he added. Namakkal has close to 1,000 egg-producing farms.
