While meeting farmers in Manikandam and Anthanallur unions in Tiruchy, Nehru explained how the recent Farm laws would affect the farmers across the nation.
He said, “Farmers across the nation are protesting against the law fearing that it would directly affect the traditional farmers, who are directed to go under the control of corporate firms.”
Nehru also heard pleas of the farmers and assured to resolve them once the DMK comes to power in the State. Later, he told the reporters that the State government, which is a proxy BJP government, has a sense of fear that the people would pass a resolution against the Farm laws during the grama sabha meets and so they have cancelled the meetings.
However, Nehru said that the DMK would carry forward with the campaign against the law and meet people regularly to explain its ill effects.
“The blind support of the state government does not care about the farmers anyway,” Nehru added.
