Vijayakant, wife discharged after treatment for COVID-19
Following COVID-19 treatment, DMDK leader Vijayakant and his wife, Premalatha Vijayakant, recovered and were discharged the hospital on Friday.

“Owing to the cooperation extended by Vijayakant and Premalatha for the COVID-19 treatment, their health progressed,” said MIOT hospital in a statement, which had also informed, earlier in the day, that the couple will be discharged on Friday.
As announced, both Vijayakant and Premalatha returned home in the evening. Vijayakant, who went for a routine health check-up on September 24, tested positive for the virus and was immediately admitted to the hospital.
Though he had exhibited mild symptoms, his family members were subjected to virus tests in which Premalatha had contracted the virus, as per the result on September 28. Premalatha was admitted to the same hospital on September 29 and underwent treatment.
Hospital management informed that both the leaders had mild symptoms and they will be discharged shortly. Meanwhile, for the first time in the last 15 years, both Vijayakant and Premalatha were not present for the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations at the party office.
Neither Vijayakant nor Premalatha would be present for the celebrations as both were under treatment, the function was presided over by DMDK Deputy Secretary L K Sudeesh.
