Pattali Makkal Katchi's (PMK) supremo Dr Ramadoss raised concerns over development work by the local bodies in his statement.

Local body elections was put off for 3 years since 2016, when AIADMK trumped DMK for the consecutive second time. It was held from December 27 to 30 last year.

CM Edappadi Palaniswami was already under fire for delaying the elections, now the funding for the elected local body authorities' funding too has been put on the backburner.

Though an ally of the ruling government Dr Ramadoss questioned why is the EPS government holding back the funds and stalling development projects in the rural areas even nine months after the elections.

He complained the stagnation before local body election is continuing even after the election since the state and central government haven't allocated funds.
