Accusing her of not engaging the party works actively in the recent months, Alagiri who initially attributed the defection to the compulsion of her husband C Sundar, wondered what was the mystery behind her joining the BJP she swore to fight five days earlier.

He also said the actor has pledged the ideology she accepted for long by joining the BJP. Claiming that her exit would not affect the Congress party, the TNCC chief described the former AICC spokesperson as a person who gets publicity by addressing from the dais organised by party workers and said that she had not engaged actively in strengthening the party a great deal.

Remarking that Khushbu was not invited by BJP and she had gone there on her own, Alagiri said the actor did not act with ideological commitment.

Asserting that the actor who joined the Congress party after the 2014 Lok Sabha polls was given the prominent position of AICC spokesperson, Alagiri likened her to firefly and said that neither the Congress would lose nor the BJP gain from her switching camps.

TNCC spokesman A Gopanna said the actor was a crowd puller at meetings. “A few additional men gathered to catch a glimpse of the attractive actor, but she never fetched votes,” he said, comparing her to comedian Vadivelu who attracted crowds for DMK in the campaign but failed to get votes.
