Tangedco adopts new measures to maximise revenue
Tangedco has adopted three-pronged inspection approach to augment its revenue to arrest leakages and maximise revenue through measures including collecting arrears from the service connection under disconnection and also acting on the multiple service connection in the same premises.

In a circular, Tangedco’s chief financial controller has instructed all the chief engineer and superintending engineers of the distribution wing to arrest the leakage and to maximise the revenue in respect of the low-tension and low-tension current transformer service connections, apart from other revenue augmentation measures.
“Inspection of the LT service connections where the assessment has been recorded between 480 and 500 units in domestic service connections during the billing month October,” it said, adding that realisation of arrears from the service connection under disconnection and inspection of multiple service connections in the same premises and arranging merger of service connections as per the provision of supply coder in force. Sources said that following the direction of the chairman managing director to conduct surprise inspections to augment revenue, the joint managing director of Tangedco held a review meeting on October 1 and set targets for the various rank of officials to inspect service connections.
According to sources, there are 2.24 service connections in the 44 circles of the state have recorded energy consumption between 480 to 500 units in August. “JMD has instructed to fix a target of not less than 2500 service connections for the officials to inspect every month for each circle,” sources added.
A senior Tangedco official said that the field officials while inspecting the service connection that recorded consumption of 480 to 500 units would have to verify the other aspects including correct adoption of the tariff, availability of multiple service connections in the same premises during the inspection to arrest the revenue leakage and to maximise the revenue. The officials will also separately visit the premises where power connection is disconnected to collect the arrears.
