The results were postponed in the wake of the Supreme Court’s order to allow National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct Phase 2 of NEET for those students who could not attend the exam on September 13 as they tested positive for COVID-19 or were living in containment zones. Phase 2 exam will take place on October 14.

It may be noted that an 18-year-old NEET aspirant from Tirupur was not allowed to appear for the exam on September 13 at the examination centre in Karur. Even as the State Health Department promised to make special arrangements of a separate room for COVID-19 positive aspirants, the student was marked absent and turned away.

After similar cases surfaced from other states across the country, the Supreme Court allowed conducting a special exam for students, who could not appear due to such reasons. The senior officials from the National Testing Agency confirmed that NEET results would be declared on October 16, 2020. The results will be declared online on the official website- www.ntaneet.nic.in

More than 1.16 lakh medical aspirants from Tamil Nadu appeared for the exam this year. At least 59,785 medical aspirants from the State had qualified NEET last year. The results will be declared for 15 per cent All India Quota and 85 per cent State quota.
