Ambur tahsildar busts racket promising government jobs, two held, office sealed
The Ambur town police have registered a case and arrested two persons who ran a fake recruitment office right in front of the taluk office. The men had cheated local public offering government jobs.

The arrested persons were identified as NR Livingston, founder-president of the fake People’s Right Movement and his assistant Sudhakar, both from Ambur. According to the police, Livingston claimed to be an advocate, with qualifications including LLB and BBA, though he has completed only SSLC. He used to roam around Ambur town on a car that sported lawyer’s sticker.
Livingston alleged collected money from many promising government jobs. On Thursday, he had called 30 candidates for an interview which was conducted in the same manner as government recruitment process. Of the 30 candidates, 15 were to attend a test in the morning while the remaining in the afternoon.
However, the tahsildar who came to know about it suspected something fishy and went into the office unannounced. When he started checking records, the official found that the organisation was fake.
According to officials, Livingston and his assistant had collected Rs 11.50 lakh from the candidates. Based on information from the tahsildar, a police team led by the Ambur DSP raided the place and seized equipment, including computers. When they checked the computers, the police found that the fraudsters had collected Rs 38 lakh from various persons.
So far, eight of their victims have lodged complaints, but the police are expecting more complaints. The duo was arrested and remanded, and the office was sealed.
