Cadre with criminal cases, a cause for concern in AIADMK
The enthusiasm of AIADMK cadre over the CM candidate issue blowing over has resulted in another cropping up: that of youth with criminal records joining the party thereby aggrieving party old timers and the police, who fear crime graph will soar if such persons are given even minor party posts, according to a party veteran.

“Many who are presently joining the party are those from the Thottapalayam, Saidapet and Old town areas in Vellore which are notorious for anti-socials,” he said on condition of anonymity.
Police officers were heard commenting that if such persons were allowed to join and given party posts, then things could go out of hand on the law and order front.
What is surprising is that such persons were not allowed the join the DMK. Party seniors feel that AIADMK would lose the middle class votes if news of such elements joining leaked out. Asked about this, Vellore AIADMK urban district secretary SRK Appu accepting that one or two might have got in, said “most district level party posts are already filled and chances of those with criminal records occupying such posts is remote.”
