Board exams likely to be based on State edu channel’s content
With online classes seeming too far to reach for government school students, who would be facing board exams next year, the Tamil Nadu government has been taking steps to ensure that questions in the finals be based on the lessons conducted in the Kalvi Tholaikatchi, the first exclusive educational channel run by the School Education Department.

Soon after schools were forced to close down due to the lockdown, the channel had launched Veetu Palli for students from the State-run schools, as they do not have online classes like other students from private schools.
Apart from live classroom sessions, the channel now has various programmes, including lectures, students’ inventions, interviews with academicians, and question and answer sessions, especially for board exam students.
A senior official from the School Education Department pointed out that questions would be derived taking into account the number of portions covered in the classroom session through the channel. “It is more than enough for the students to get good marks in the board exams if they watch the channel regularly,” he said adding that question papers would be simple so that students could pass.
Claiming that more than 90% of the students in the State-run schools have been watching the educational channel, the official said that recently, teachers were deployed to distribute the time table and schedule of the TV channel regularly. “Besides, they would also ensure that students have access to TV at houses to watch the programmes,” he added. Stating that another about 200 classroom room sessions would be included in the channel shortly, he said: “Shooting involving academicians and experts is on the progress at various studios across the State.”
