The ruling AIADMK seems to have launched a poster war against the DMK. Posters have surfaced across Coimbatore ridiculing DMK leaders with funny slogans and caricatures.

One of the posters depict DMK leader MK Stalin as ‘Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikesi’ and the party’s general secretary Duraimurugan as ‘Manguni Amaichar.’

There were also posters asking people to choose a ‘trustworthy leader or the one who relies on paper bits’ with the pictures of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and DMK president MK Stalin.

Also, posters with caricatures of Stalin, MP Kanimozhi and youth wing leader Udhayanidhi Stalin with a punchline as ‘Believe in hard work? or Believe in privileged birth?’ were found in many places. There were no details of the printer or organisation taking responsibility for the posters. As the posters ridiculing the DMK leadership surfaced in many parts of the city, party men went around tearing them down in areas such as Gandhipuram, Ramanathapuram, RS Puram and Kuniamuthur.

In this connection, the Kuniamuthur police arrested around seven persons, including DMK’s local youth wing organiser Nagaraj on Sunday night. Five others were arrested by police in RS Puram and Selvapuram for the same offence of trying to disrupt peace.

As the news of their arrest spread, a large number of DMK workers gathered at the Kuniamuthur police station demanding their release. They also sought the arrest of those who put up the posters.

Meanwhile, the DMK led by the party’s youth wing leader Udhayanidhi is organising a protest near Red Cross Society on Tuesday condemning police action and Local Administration Minister SP Velumani.
