The Minister, who visited the spot, told reporters that a portion of the building was brought down after it was found that a few welded iron rods remained weak and damaged. “Do not believe in rumours being spread out that the building had collapsed. None was injured,” he said. Collector K Megraj too said that workers have erected the scaffolding and were about to start concrete work for the huge portico in the building. “However, then they found two or three props were not fixed properly. Since there was every possibility of the structure to collapse because of the additional load, once the concrete is laid, it was decided to dismantle the entire scaffolding and re-do the work,” he said.
