Announcing the participation of Rahul Gandhi in the rally, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president KS Alagiri on Monday referred to tractor rallies led by Gandhi in Punjab cum Haryana and said the participation of the former Congress national president in the rally in Tamil Nadu would usher in a major political change in the state.
Stating that the date of launch of plough rallies in 150 places in the state will be given later, the TNCC chief said the rally would raise awareness among the people and mobilise farmers against the BJP led Centre’s anti-farmer approach, mainly denial of loan waiver and imposition of the three farm laws recently enacted by the union government.
Claiming that the price of the agricultural produce would be fixed by corporate firms owing to the enactment of the farm legislations, which have deprived the farmers of Minimum Support Price (MSP), Alagiri said the Congress party was mobilising farmers and organizing multi-pronged protests against the farm laws.
